UK commercial vehicle industry on a high

If the Commercial Vehicle Show 2019 – the largest commercial vehicle event in the United Kingdom – is anything to go by, the nation’s commercial vehicle sector is very healthy indeed.

Having opened its doors today (and running until May 2), the show has sold out for the fifth successive year.

Rob Skelton, CV Show director, says: “The 2019 CV Show is great indicator of the ongoing strength of the UK commercial vehicle industry. In times of potential uncertainty in other UK market sectors, the road-transport industry and all that surrounds it continues to show clear signs of confidence. Road transport forms the backbone of the British economy.”

The figures released at the CV Show media event earlier in the year revealed that in 2018, and in the first quarter of 2019, there was sustained growth in the market with rises in both demand and production.

The first quarter of 2019 showed a 10,6-percent year-on-year demand increase, according to latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. This is the sector’s best ever monthly performance.

Should you find yourself in the UK this week and would like to attend the CV Show (for free…), you can register at www.cvshow.com.
