Towards sustainable road freight

David Cebon, professor of mechanical engineering at Cambridge University, in the United Kingdom, will be presenting on the topic: Towards Sustainable Road Freight, at the University of the Witwatersrand this September.

His talk will discuss the ways in which the road freight-system can be made more sustainable – by improving the engineering systems that move the freight and the logistics systems that organise the movement of freight.

Organised by the University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering, the lecture honours Professor John Orr, a pioneering member of the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineers (SAIMechE) and the University of the Witwatersrand.

Date: Thursday, September 13

Time: 17:15 for 18:00

Venue: Senate Room, 2nd Floor, Solomon Mahlangu (Senate) House, University of the Witwatersrand

Attendance is free and those interested in attending can RSVP through the SAIMechE. For further enquiries please contact Frank Kienhöfer at frank.kienhofer@wits.ac.za or (011) 717-7320.
