Securex expo celebrates 25 years as leading security and trade show in Africa

Securex South Africa – the leading security and fire trade show of its kind on the African continent – returns to Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand from May 22 to 24.

“The fact that the show continues to be relevant 25 years after its inception – drawing in more than 190 physical and cyber-security exhibitors together with thousands of visitors from across the continent, as well as support from a large number of the security and fire industry’s associations – highlights the importance of security for the continent,” explains Sven Smit, portfolio director at Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery.

“In fact, you could even say that Securex has become the centre point for Africa’s security dialogue.”

This year’s expo will keep attendees abreast of the latest market trends through its free-to-attend seminar theatre, featuring sessions on the future impact of artificial intelligence in cybercrime, keeping up with the booming growth of internet connectivity and data management, the 2018 Surveillance Insights report, and more than 20 other topical seminar presentations.

A show first, Securex 2018 is also introducing a brand-new Cyber Lab, powered by XGRC Software. Furthermore, Pseudo Scent and Dogs SA will be holding regular live demonstrations of highly trained security and detection dogs, focusing on urban man trailing, the detection of narcotics and protection.

“The South African Intruder Detection Services Association (SAIDSA) will be honouring its 50th birthday milestone at Securex 2018, with a business breakfast taking place on May 22,” says Smit.

“SAIDSA will once again be running its Tech-man competition at Securex 2018, where SAIDSA-certified technicians will compete against one another in a practical challenge.

“In addition, visitors will be able to see the latest security products housed within the New Product Display, conduct direct discussions with specialists, network with peers and learn about new technologies and legislation,” Smit adds.

“They will also able to attend the Fire Protection of South Africa (FPASA) InFIRes workshop, catering for insurance technical staff and providing feedback on FPASA projects.”

Securex 2018 will be co-located with the A-OSH Expo, Africa’s leading occupational health and safety exhibition. Visitor entrance to both shows is free. For more information, or to register to attend, please visit www.securex.co.za.
