Get a charge – quick!

When an automotive battery needs to be recharged, one can usually budget for an overnight wait. Entertec has changed this though; its CTEK CT5 “Time to Go” battery charger indicates exactly how long it will take until important charge thresholds have been reached.

A series of lights indicate when the battery is sufficiently charged to disconnect and start the engine, but it also has a “Try” function for when time is limited – it lets you know when you can safely attempt a start.

CT5 Time to Go will detect when polarity is inadvertently reversed (negative lead to positive terminal, or vice-versa) and will not spark when being connected or disconnected. The CT5 Time To Go is fully automatic. It can be connected to a battery indefinitely and won’t over- or under-charge.

It is also intelligent enough to recondition a badly depleted battery by bringing up the charge rate progressively and can be used for battery maintenance to keep all common battery types topped up via the “Care” mode.

“Recently, German magazine Autobild chose it as the overall winner of a massive 14-way charger shoot-out in which the CTEK product scored 448 out of a possible 500 points. The testing was carried out by GTÜ, an independent testing organisation,” says Enertec’s Brett Kable.

The CT5 works with all types of lead-acid batteries and has a battery capacity range between 20 and 160Ah.

Recommended retail price is R2 220 with a five-year warranty.
